REPRESENTATION
- Review of current IEP/504 paperwork
- Review of full records
- Discuss current concerns and questions
- Conduct classroom observations of your child and educational environment
- Create a plan by developing list of suggestions to discuss with your educational team
- Direct communication with school personnel
- Attend the IEP/504 meeting with the family
- Consult with educational team after the meeting
COACHING
- Coaching occurs between family members and the advocate only
- Pre-meeting to review concerns, and areas to address
- Post-meeting to review results and moving forward
- Discussion prior to providing consent for services
- Education regarding any parts of the IEP or 504 plan
- Suggestion list for follow-up
- Any other support outside of a meeting
- Education provided on Parental Rights (Procedural Safeguards)
